Hi, I am Isabel Lockhart, a Scottish Wedding Celebrant based in Aberdeenshire. I believe your wedding should be the happiest day of your life. But often, it becomes a source of stress.
Going down the traditional route and working with a registrar comes with restrictions. Registrars can only perform ceremonies in approved venues – and sometimes, the function suite doesn’t fit what you are looking for.
Couple this with impersonal services, confusion over who can officiate at a wedding, and differing opinions on how your day should look, and you can be left overwhelmed.

As your Scottish Wedding Celebrant, every word I choose will be from the heart. We will take the time to get to know each other to share your beautiful journey with your loved ones.
Included in your ceremony:
- The writing of your love story (including poems and/or readings)
- Support writing your vows (if you need it)
- Choreography
- Rituals
- A printed copy of your ceremony
Where you choose to include rituals, there is the option for you to supply your own props such as handfasting cords/ribbons, or I can source the materials for an additional charge. I do hold a handfasting workshop where you can create your own binding for an additional cost.

I can legally marry you by applying for a temporary marriage licence.

So if you’re looking for an alternative to a religious wedding, you have come to the right place. Your ceremony will be performed with your best interests in mind, in a location of your choosing.

This is your day, so your ceremony needs to be all about you! All I will ever do is provide support, guidance, and suggestions to make your day extra special.
My favourite type of wedding is a festival-style celebration incorporating meaningful rituals including family and friends. Outdoor ceremonies are perfect – but being in Scotland, the weather can be unpredictable. A “Plan B” is always a good idea!
I’ve been in your shoes…
I recently got married and decided to ignore what everyone thought I should do, to focus on what we wanted to do.
A weight fell off my shoulders after I decided to ignore traditional expectations.
The result? A wedding festival in our garden. My husband and I sourced the suppliers ourselves and literally got our hands dirty preparing the garden and field.
We still get comments like: “The wedding of the century – including mine!” “Can we do it again?”
